A specification that enables ATMcells to be carried in Ethernetpackets. This makes it possible to implement the ATM protocol while using existing Ethernet equipment, especially network interface cards (NICs). CIF provides the advantages of ATM, such as Quality of Service (QoS), without the usual hardware expense.
