Short for Direct Cable Connection, a Windows 95 feature that enables two computers to be connected via a serial or parallel cable. Once connected, the two computers function as if they were on a local-area network (LAN). Either computer can access files on the other computer. But because DCC does not require network interface cards (NICs), it is less expensive and simpler. The limitations are that it can connect only two PCs, and the data transfer rate is slower than with a true LAN.
Direct Cable Connection FAQ Describes how to install, configure and used DCC, especially using parallel cables.
Direct Cable Connection Problem Page Provides solutions to common problems encountered when setting up and using DCC. Includes wiring diagrams for serial and parallel cables.
Electronic Design Laboratory A Web page full of e-mail and other stuff that may help people to get their Direct Cable Connection working.
Parallel Technologies Parellel Technologies is the creator of DCC drivers licensed to Microsoft for Windows 95/98/2000. It is also a provider of DCC cables.
