Facilities-based competition is often used in the
telecommunications industry to describe
competition between providers of the same or similar services, but where
the service is delivered by different or proprietary means or
networks. For example a BPL provider competing with
a cable TV network to provide broadband Internet service
is considered to be facilities-based competition. Also called
infrastructure-based competition.
